Planning a weekend trip with your kids? After 5 tips for travelling with Kis, Here's a few things you should avoid to ensure a smooth trip.

1- Don’t forget snacks and water

Hungry or thirsty kids can quickly become cranky. Don’t assume you’ll find food or drinks easily on the go, always bring healthy snacks and plenty of water to keep everyone in good spirits.
Example:
Focaccia Bread

2- Don’t Overpack

It can be tempting to prepare for every possible scenario, but overpacking will just create more stress. Managing heavy bags while looking after your kids can make travel exhausting.
Example:
A family going on a weekend camping trip packed extra clothes and gear “just in case,” but they only used half of it. Navigating airports and transportation became much more difficult with all the extra luggage.

3- Don’t skip rest breaks

Traveling can be exciting, but trying to do too much without breaks can lead to overtired, irritable kids. Make sure to build in rest periods, even if it’s just a brief pause in a park.

4- Don’t forget emergency essentials

Accidents happen when you least expect them. Having basic supplies, like a first-aid kit or extra clothes, can save you from unnecessary stress.
Example:
During a family hike, a child slipped and got a minor cut. The parents had no bandages or antiseptic, so they had to leave the trail to find a store, cutting the hike short. A small first-aid kit would have kept the day on track.

5- Don’t over-schedule the day

Fitting too many activities into one day can leave both kids and adults feeling rushed and stressed. A flexible schedule allows time for unexpected fun or needed breaks.
Example:
On a weekend city tour, a family planned to visit several museums and landmarks in one day. By mid-afternoon, the kids were too tired to continue, and the family missed out on a relaxed evening at a local park because they had packed their schedule too tightly.

Avoiding these 5 things, a short weekend trip can be fun and stress-free for the whole family. For more travel tips and if you want the focaccia recipe, stay tuned!

Tip for the Week!

Remember, the fewer bags you have, the more hands you’ve got to hold... or carry your tired kids. 🤣

See you next wednesday
